Counseling

Counseling lessons are taught to all students throughout the school year. Lessons cover topics, such as, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

The Kindness Club is a student leadership group made up of second and third grade students who promote kindness and compassion through service projects within the school, district and community.

The Kindness Club will meet monthly to develop projects to spread an attitude of kindness and caring on campus. Meetings will be held during student specials time the first Monday of each month (unless it is a holiday, it will be the following Monday). This is planned so that class time will not be impacted. Examples of projects will include the creation of posters, photo slide shows, encouraging notes for students, and make cards for the children’s hospital at the holidays. In order to participate, your child will need to have parent permission. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Biggens or Mrs. Arias.

Safety Patrol is a fourth grade leadership group that promotes safety throughout Ford Elementary led Mrs. Arias. The students are nominated by teachers who are courteous, dependable and positive!

S.O.S. groups generally include 5-6 students that meet once a week during lunch or specials/P.E. Topics are discussed based on a survey of the students’ needs (i.e. self-esteem, peer pressure, test anxiety, etc). Students are invited to be in a S.O.S. group per a teacher or parent referral. A signed parent permission form is required for students to participate in a group.

Safe Organized Accountable Respectful

Teachers are asked to nominate one student each month that goes above and beyond to demonstrate what it means to be Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful. These students are invited to a special lunch celebration with the counselors!

Student Council is a fourth grade leadership group that helps solve problems to make Ford a better place to learn, works on school/community-wide projects and works on fun activities to promote school spirit. Student Council members are nominated by their teachers. In order to be nominated, they must be courteous, dependable and positive. These students must be in good academic standing, passing all subjects. They should be a good citizen with an “S” or “E” in conduct.
